CG.Drama: The Eagle Has Landed
This past Sunday was our first performance of the year. We had been preparing for about a little under a month. The morning of the performance, we had almost every technical problem you could think of. The main A/V system was down so we didn't have any mics. Now, normally, that wouldn't be such a big deal, as I would just have them project. But the sanctuary is built in such a way that acoustics are really poor and no matter how loud you try to speak or project, your voice is just suckes up by the room.
I was literally on my knees praying, asking for just a little something so the kids could do what they've been preparing for for the past few weeks. Pastor Andy was great and tried to stall for us as the A/V team tried to jury rig something together. Thankfully, we were given two mics. Unfortunately, the space we had to work with was maybe eight feet wide, so there wasn't much room for the kids to move around.
Overall, the sketch was really well received. There was laughter where there should've been laughter, which is always good, but the surprising thing was the amount of laughs the sketch received. I mean, I know it was supposed to be funny, but I didn't realize how hilarious it really was. Aside from the comedy, I hope the point of the sketch wasn't too obtuse for the the audience.
I got a lot of good reviews at the end of the day which, I guess, is a good sign.
Our next performance is going to be at Newark Good Will Missions.
