Holes in my Jaw

well, after a long week of absence, i'm finally back.

Solid Foods

wow, i can't believe how great it is to eat solid foods again. you really take for granted meats and vegetables and other goodies that you can just cruch down on with your teeth.

so i barely manage to wake up this morning to go to the oral surgeon to get my last check up. it started off as a really bright sunny day. chilly, but brilliant out. just as i am about to get onto 80 from 287, a nice little jam is there to welcome me. sure didn't miss this while i was out. the jam cleared up as we cleared the off ramp for smith road.

so i'm barreling down 80 and i hit up the express lane, thinking that it'll be faster. big mistake. i get a little past exit 71 just as 80 becomes 95, and it slows down. not to a dead stop, but slow. i look over at the local side and its clear clear clear. by the time we get up to exit 73 for ft lee, it's really backed up.

as i take the exit, it starts to snow. a nice little surprise which brought a slight smile to my face.

i make my way to the oral surgeon and make the wrong turn as i always do, forced to make a uey back.

i wait. and wait. and wait. finally, they get to me. and its just a simple, lemme take it look. no infection. good. and i was done. wow. i could've told you that. so i waited what 40 minutes for a 2 min glace? oh well. at least i can eat solid foods.

on the way back to m's place, i get these nasty nasty stomach cramps. i don't know if it's from the lack of food or what, but it forces me to pull over and get some air. after that, i seemed to be fine.

originally, i had planned to go to royal buffet by home depot. i figured, i was so hungry, i'd be able to eat ample amounts of anything.

i get to m's place as she's just finishing up w/ her shower. her mom offers me some italian sausage, and i figure, why not. so i warm up 2 links and start going at it. man, did i forget how to chew food. it took me about an hour to finish that 1 sausage link. the food kept on getting lodged in my left cheek 'cause my tounge wasn't dextrous enought to reach it (from lack of use).

m pulls out the left over turkey and find that this is much easier for me to work on. since poultry is more stringy, i'm able to pull it apart w/ my front teeth. it's also softer than the sausage so it goes down smoother.

as we're eating, i have the craving for dr. strangelove and pop it into the dvd player. this has got to be one of the funniest movies around. as we're watching it, the tryptophan starts getting to work on me making me nice and sleepy.

die another day

just as the movie wrapped up, i was awake again and ready for another movie. we decided to pop in die another day.

the movie was alright. the plot was thin and the toys were blah. so many parts, i was just like, "shoot him" or "shoot her".

some of it was just rediculous. like the guys "man/machine suit" he used to control his little satellite in the end. does he really need those gay gay goggles? if his glove can shock people at 100 thousand volts, why don't they die? didn't anyone notice that he was building a huge satellite in space and it has "laser" written all over it? even if the guy didn't add a nice little attachment, he could've just had the mirrors focus the sun's energy into a point of light like a magnifying glass. or the fact that this thing is precise enough to shoot down a missile targeting it, but it's not precise enough to shoot a small car running along the ground.

the sex scenes were just rediculous. i mean, i understand that he's supposedly sexy and what not. but not everyone will jump in the sack with you right away. and the transitions they have for it are just terrible. it makes the sex scenes laughable.

and then that guy w/ the diamonds in his face, talk about bling. i'm sure they could have removed them. seriously, why would you walk around w/ so many diamonds in your face? your asking to get mugged.

the sword fight scene was terribly dull to. it's hard to watch anything sword related now adays. especially after watching things like conquest on the history channel, it's just so hard to believe that anyone can spend so long sword fighting. not to mention them running around and jumping here and there. it takes a lot of strength and energy to swing a sword around and unless you're trained for it, it takes a lot of energy to throw it around like that for such a long amount of time.

the special effects were alrite. too much of it looked fake and cheesy. even the car tech was just very blah. gimme a break, this is supposed to be bond. things are supposed to be new and cool. missiles and guns in cars. it's all been done before. what else can they do? how bout built in railgun. or built in directional sonic boom. or make something up.

all in all, it was good to see on dvd.

i give it 2/5. it's probably better w/ more guys and more chips and a smidgeon of alcohol.

Visions

after dinner at m's, i still have some time to kill, so i run by visions to see if they have my dye pants. unfortunately they don't have any red in, but they're getting a shipment in thursday. hopefully i'll be able to pick up a pair on friday.

finally, i will have the pants that i've wanted for a good 2 years now.

sponsor meeting

after visions, i make my way over to ptim's place for our weekly sponsor meeting. andy comes in and pulls out his laptop and loads up mame on it. and we have a nice reminice of old video game times.

apparantly, ptim has gotten into gunbound. very cool, very interesting.

basically, no one else shows up, so its just andy, ptim, mindy, and myself.

we end around 9:30, so i'm able to make it home in time for qe.

queer eye

of course, it's great as usual. i just can't believe the way that steve was so angry w/ carson, i mean, this guy is trying to help you. just cause you don't agree don't mean he don't care and he don't have a reason for the things he says.

his look was better, but mainly cuz he layered everything. i really need to find me some woven or knit button downs. too many "dressy" or "businessy" shirts.

after watching qe for so long, i realized the main reason why they all look so good cause all their stuph fits! i mean, omg, i've been so stupid all these years.

i still need to get on this show. trying to figure out a way to get on.

Tuesday 11.25 - Surgery

we wake up around 7:30ish am est to make our way over to ft lee. on the way, as we're transitioning onto 95, a deer jumps out and i run into it w/ my front right corner. unfortunately, it was in the accord (sorry, i have a 2001). my mom and i were fine, but the hood is a bit banged up and the alignment is out. i'll see if i can put a pic up tomorro.

so i go into surgery, and they start hooking up the wires for the ecg. the nurse tries to put the needle in my left elbow for the iv but manages to miss. it hurts a bit, but nothing that i can't bear. so the surgeon tells her to drop it in my wrist. "you can't miss" he says. so i'm like, why not go for the wrist first? apprantly it hurts more.

so i was pretty much out cold for the operation. all of a sudden, i'm up, i throw on my sweater and i get dropped in a wheelchair. and they tell me to hold these ice packs on my face. not like i'm really conscious or have any decision making capabilities. the next thing i know i'm outside and the car is brought around. and i'm on the highway.

the oddest thing about the surgery were the visions i had after words. while i was home sleeping or partially sleeping, i kept on having these visions of what i believe is the surgery itself. it was like everything was made of liquid metal, but i could only really see the surgeon and some of the nurses around me. everything else was all black. i kept hearing this phrase repeated over and over again right after itself. these past few days i've been trying to remember what that phrase was but i just can't. and when the people moved, they left these weird ripple shadows like a stop motion caught their silhoutes. and could feel and hear the sounds of them trying to remove my teeth.

i tried blogging my experience on my laptop, but the drugs that i was on jsut wouldn't let me. i spent the better part of the day taking my painkillers, throwing up because of them, and taking my antibiotics.

the painkillers they had me on was hydroco and the antibiotics was amicillin.

wednesday 11.26

i basically can't eat, my face has blumped up the size of a balloon and i have no chin. i think i start playing GBA today. i started playing final fantasy tactics advance. the game is just way too easy. i'm able to level and have my party members learn all the abilities of their available classe, except for blue mage and morpher, just too much trouble for its worth. i also have too much money. i've already bought 1 of every single item, and i'm sure, if i was inclined, would be able to buy them all again. i had basically 280k sitting around doing nothing.

my guys were so strong that the only way i took damage most of the time was from myself.

friday 11.28

m and sara came to visit me, which was a nice change of pace. they spent some time w/ this stinky stinky man while they chatted w/ me and i typed to them w/ my laptop.

come to think of it, i should have used ventrilo's text to speech capability to talk to them. but then i would probably have to try and spell things more correctly.

it was a great visist. the only time i smiled all week since my surgery i think. the rest of the time was spent sleeping, playing vid games, or throwing up.

saturday 11.29

based on sara's advice, i decided to try and take tons of advil instead of the painkillers. my mouth was still hugely swolen and the smell was getting to me. the painkillers i was taking were making me nauseous so i couldnt' really get up or even move that much. the advil would try to stem some of the pain and allow me to get up and shower.

brian and ben came over to spend some time w/ me. eventually vinny came by and we played some hold'em. i started off strong, but made some dumb plays, and also just flopped some poor cards and lost a good amount of it. i managed to make my way back up, but it was nothing like i did before. i think the pain and just the general discomfort i was in was affecting my play. i mean, i was playing tons of hands i should have just thrown away. alas, it was a good time.

i finally get bored of final fantasy tactics advance and decide to try mario and luigi: superstar saga. this is a great little game. it's like an rpg but w/ a mario twist to it. the best part and sometimes the worst part of it is the interactive combat. while you're fighting, you can hit (a) at a certain time to increase the damage you do. while the enemy is attacking you, you have to hit (a) or (b) depending on the character they're attacking in order to dodge it. so basically its all in your hands.

maybe if i was better coordinated, i would've been able to do better. but i found myself using the build in save function of the emulator to cheat in way. i'd just save it after i hit them and reload if i fail jumps. eventually, i just put in some gameshark codes.

sunday 11.30

i miss church because i'm still way tired from not eating and these terrible terrible meds.

in the evening, i'm well enough to catch the last qe, simpsons, alias, and aqua teen.

monday 12.01

i try and play some more mario, but i find that part of the rom messed up and just can't continue any further. so i try playing golden sun 1. and i get through barely the beginning, and the rom messes up on me. i eventually start playing the legend of zelda: a link to the past.

oh my, these link games are hard. i have the constant urge to tear up every single cabbage i see, to go into every door i see, to finish every dungeon in sight.

this is also the night that i puke the worst. and i thought that i was done w/ that.
