The Date

i called up toscano's around 4, but they're closed on mondays. since we didn't really know where else to go, i let sara decide. we ended up going to the brocolini in madison.

sunday night, i had opened a bottle of red wine and drank about a quarter of it. if i knew that this place we were going to aloud us to bring our own wines, i would have brought the red.

the brought out this bruchetta w/ this garlic mayo sauce. the mayo sauce was really good, and we were dipping it w/ not only the bruchetta, but the normal bread that they gave us.

we ordered muscles in this red sauce as an appetizer. it was so good. the muscles were perfectly tender, and the sauce was amazing. just the tiniest bit of fire added to the sauce gave it that little kick that it needed. it wasn't too salty nor was it too oily. it was such great dipping sauce for the bread that we asked for a second bread basket.

for the entres, i decided to go w/ the rack of lamb. i figured, since this was gunna be my last real meal for awhile, i might as well eat well.

M ordered this penne peciomence[sic], which i was originally going to order because it had projuto[sic] in it. it also had chunks of chicken and gorgonzola cheese.

sara ordered the veal w/ truffle sauce. which was very good too.

but man oh man, the lamb was great. i just tore into that thing and gnawed on the bones for awhile. i also had plenty of M's penne, digging through her plate looking for the projuto.

Slow Scrabble

after dinner, we went back to sara's place. she bought this 2 pack game of yahtzee and scrabble. i kinda learned how to play yahtzee, although we didn't. we proceed to play a game of speed scrabble.

speed scrabble is where you have all the letters in the game face down in a pile in the center w/ all the players around it. each player takes 7~10 letters. when the game starts, each player flips their letters over and begins building their personal scrabble board in front of them following normal scrabble rules. when a player uses up all their letters, they say: "take one", and all players must take a new letter from the center pile and add it to their existing scrabble board. any player may reshuffle their own boards at any time. once all the letters in the center have been used up, the first person to complete their board says: "done" and all other people stop. you score your boards like normal. play 3 rounds, adding up the board values for each round. the person w/ the most points wins.

so sara and i played while m passed out on the sofa. the game took sooo long. it was nothing like actual speed scrabble. none the less it was fun. sara ended up winning w/ 158 pts, and i lost w/ 123 pts.

I Failed Maps

after scrabble, M finally woke up. well, we woke her up. she needed directions to the wendy's park and ride. it took forever for sara to show her.

first sara drew out a map, but that wasn't good enough. so sara pulled out a very detailed local map. she used post it's to show where all the lights would be and everywhere M was supposed to turn.

it was hilarious the way that M couldn't read maps and stuph. i was making fun of her, saying that she failed maps back in grade school and had to look at her neighbor to cheat.

sara also made a comment about how M would probably go home and photocopy the map w/ the post-its, and then photocopy it w/o the post its. and she was dead on.

i then commented that M would probably compile a huge 3 ring binder of directions to everyone's home w/ a huge cross referenced index in the back w/ everyone's name and address. so whenever she needed to get somewhere, she would look it up in her binder.

AKA Viking

i saw the new viking at force of nature and omg, it's disgustingly nice. this is now no doubt in my mind what i want as my backup marker.

stock, it can shoot up to 35+ bps, insane. it can get around 2000 shots off of 1 68/4500 fill. that's insane too. and the fact that it comes w/ military grade anno is just gravy.

i've read so many good things about the viking. now, it only gets better. sure, the matrix is nice too, but it also needs various upgrades and what not to make it run smoothly and at its best. the viking comes at its best right out of the box. the viking is also a tank, which makes it great for both rec-ball and as a backup.

as of now, i'm planning to pick this thing up in 2006. if our team reeally gets off the ground, i might pick it up in 2005. this, of course, is all dependant on if i get a job or not.
