South Park: Return of the Lord of the Rings to the Two Towers

was up last night and i was able to catch a few episodes of south park on comedy central. i had the pleasure of catching the lord of the rings episode.

it was hilarious. the south park kids were pretending to play lord of the rings. stan's parents asked the kids to return a lord of the rings video tape, but they accidentally switched the tape w/ a porno.

it was amazing how they were able to fit practically the whole 3 parts into 1 30 minute episode.

Soul Purpose

we had a little brainstorming session trying to get some ideas for our christmas production.

the first set of ideas were just atrocious. one was, the rapture w/ a fog machine. what a fog machine has to do w/ the rapture, i have no clue. another one was making fun of the rapture by spoofing the left behind series. i'm all for self-depricating material, but making fun of one of the most important things a christian is to look forward to is out of the question. besides, i prefer self deprication to be targeted towards ourselves.

the second set of ideas we had were a lot better. some of them actually had the potential to be very engaging dramas that dealt w/ some real issues both past and present.

but for some reason, the kids didn't know what commercialization meant. they kept thinking that it had to do w/ commercials.

after we got a good number of ideas on the board, we voted to try and narrow down the choices to 2 or 3. the first set of votes was pretty obvious which one should have one. but as the list continued to narrow, a new idea popped up. "hey, these ideas are really good, let's 'merge' some of them".

given that merging some of the ideas together would most likely be workable, it just felt like it would end up being a hodge podge of ideas rather than something really focused. kind of like one of those combined fax/scanner/printers. yes, you have all 3 machines, but each one is mediocre at what it does.

on the plus side, some kids volunteered to write up some synopses for the ideas that we had. i got pulled into working w/ jeanie on one. fortunately, it's the one that i would have wanted to do. it was also the one i felt was the strongest idea.

after all the brainstorming was over, we went to applegate farms for some ice cream. i had a medium cup: strawberry cheescake, lime sherbert, and cranberry. the cranberry was really good.

Ghost

after getting ice cream, we came back to church and played some ghost. i have no idea why it's called ghost. the general gist of the game is: first person starts w/ a letter. the next person chooses another letter to try and complete a word (this can be any word). play continues w/ each person trying to complete a word, but not being the one to form a completed word. words have to be longer than 3 characters. if you feel that the person that just went is trying to complete a word that does not exist, you have the option of challenging that person. if there actually is a word, then you get a point. otherwise, they get a point. when a player has 5 points, they're out.

as we were playing, spencer, joyce, and andrew consistenly got hit. either they would challenge and be screwed cuz there was a word, or they just wouldn't be able to figure out a way to continue it. spencer ended up being big loser w/ 5 points.

Babysitter

i've decided that i either need to get a gamecube or an xbox.

my mom had a dinner party last night and there were these 2 kids there. one named ed, the other was eric wei, tina wei's brother. so being the good host, i did my best to keep these kids entertained.

it didn't help that our dining room is right next to the living room, so the TV was off limits. i was forced to miss simpsons and alias.

first, i tried teaching ed how to play magic. although he had played yugioh before, he just had a hard time w/ magic so we stopped that real early.

after we had dinner, i showed eric and ed how to play gunbound. the one caveat that i gave them was that they couldn't lose me money. being newbs that they were, ed not only hit, but killed a teammate. luckily, eric was able to pull through and got on a team that won.

i was getting bored, so i decided to clean my kit. eric went online to try and chat w/ people. in the meantime, we played some more ghost and of course i schooled them w/ my superior intellect.

Blogger

as you can see, i changed the layout for this blog. i had to because the pictures i added were messing up the formatting. now i'll be able to add as many pictures as i like.

in the next few days, i'm gunna be looking at the layout code and changing some of the colors around.
