Yesterday s Dream

yesterday was interesting. during drama team, we had something similar to a staff meeting. we didn't change the vision or purpose of soul purpose, per se, but we did change the direction and the way we were going about handling that direction.

i don't know if it was just the kids being slow or the way that dave was explaining things, but the kids just had a really hard time grasping/understanind dave. they were acting as if sp was going through a divorce or something. anyway, dave pretty much split the group into 2 teams. one group to work on mainly story driven sketches, while the other team worked on more character driven sketches. the kids thought it had something to do w/ their ability to act or something. after awhile, dave cleared it up and explained to them that it wasn't about complexity or difficulty. rather, it was about approach. i, of course, chose the more character driven path. partly because i have more real life experience that i feel could lend itself to my acting. but also because i feel that story driven devices are just l4m3. not that they're bad, or they're less complex, but it all stems from seeing too many bad christian dramas in my day. i've just become sick of being insulted by it. i'm sure they'll be doing stuph that won't be insulting, but i'd like to handle the other approach.

The Eye Doctor

went to the eye doctor today. fortunately, my eyes are nice and healthy and my prescription is actually stable. hopefully, my vision doesn't get worse, that way i'll be able to keep the same pair of glasses for the rest of my life. i also got contacts. it's pretty easy for me to put the contacts into my eyes. it's taking them out that's a problem. my thumb always seems to just miss the contact.

now i'l be ready for paint ball this weekend. no more foggy glasses. too bad i have astigmatism which makes the contacts mad expensive. my right contact also has a tendency to shift around a bit.

after the eye exam, stopped by m's for a bite of lunch. while we were preparing some ramen, we were also getting ready to make soem coffee. i wanted to play w/ m's french press so i kept reaching for it. she kept blocking my hands preventing me from actually getting to it. i pointed behind her w/ my left hand and to my surprise, she actually turned to see what was there. of course, just like in the cartoons, there wasn't actually anything there. so while she was distracted, i went for the french press. oh man, it was hilarious. i was dying. the rest of the day, i just kept pointing at nothing, to see if she would look cause she didn't only look, she TURNED to look!

What's that behind you?!?!!

after lunch, i cut some paper and started story boarding a movie for 4W. it's basically a cross between 24/south park/alias. it should be a good project, very challenging, but fun. this was my first time story boarding something out. so far, the videos that we've made haven't been that complicated, so there was no need for story boarding. but this has so much stuph going on, so many cuts, and so many windows at the same time, i needed something to keep track of everything. i also needed away to shift stuph around so i could see visually how the video would play out. i got the first draft done. just need to show the 4W and see what they think of some of the ideas. the humor really comes from the randomness of it, and i'm not sure if other people will find it amusing at all. oh well, i guess we'll just have to wait and see.
