winter retreat: bonding

After dinner, we went to the gym for some organized chaos. Initially, we were going to play some Assimilation tag. We decided to change it up and play it in dodgeball format. When we explained the rules to the kids, John Chang and Jon Lin suggested we play Dungeon ball instead. It didn't really matter to us, so we let them play.

The game ended up not being as good. Mainly because the balls that we used just wouldn't go far, so it ended up being really lame. We played 2 games, and then let them go off and do their thing. Some of them played some volleyball without a net, others played basketball. I went to play some touch football with the guys.

Afterwards, we went back to the cabins. After everyone washed up, we spent some time in sharing. The older guys were on their side, and I went to our side.

I was thinking that the kids would do the majority of the sharing, but they liked my stories. I went through pretty much my entire history, talking about my experiences and how I came to God. It was a very good time of sharing and bonding.

Around 1:30 AM EST, some of the guys started nodding off. I was up talking to Pat a little bit longer. Some of it was a bit of counseling, some of it was a bit of encouragement, but it was all God.

It's a shame the other guys couldn't be there.
