Running Around
accord
this morning, i finally dropped the accord off to get it fixed. it should be done this friday. in the meantime, we'll only have one car to drive around.
q's
later in the afternoon, todd and i ran over to q's. they've been doing a bit of work on the home. they changed the floor tiles in the kitchen. they also changed the countertop to this black granite and put in a new stainless steal sink. in the living room, they repainted the walls and took out the carpet and replaced it w/ faux wood flooring. the wood flooring looks really nice and you can't see or feel the seems.
we played a bit of ikagura before q had to leave for a party.
dave
i got back home a little after six. around seven, dave gave me a rang and caught me up on what's going on. when i found out, i was just not prepared for what he had to tell me. i mean, i knew a little bit from the other day, but that could not prepare me for this.
dave's basically in a situation where no amount of medicine, no amount of science, no amount of technology can help him. if we were to go to any other period in time to bring something back, it wouldn't help him. and caring and loving him makes it difficult for us to just sit here, incapable of doing anything. all we can do is pray.
after i got off the phone w/ dave, i called up everyone i knew that cares about him to ask them to pray for him. it was hard getting across the severity of the situation w/o actually giving out details. and i'm sure that dave would want these guys to know but it isn't my place to go around giving out this sort of information. i did my best in describing the how bad things were, but i know it came out sounding like i was exagerating. it's safe to say that i'm not. it would be better that he died than to go through what he's going through now.
i spent the next 30 minutes or so praying for dave. there were a few points where i just didn't know how to pray or what to say and just broke down in tears.
later, gene, jdc, todd, and q came over. first, we played a bit of 7-card stud w/o chips and claiming we had aces. after a little bit of laughter, we got ready to pray. i described the situation the best i could and then we prayed.
gamecube
afterwards, we played some ikagura. we realized that the previous four hours or so were basically wasted. each hour you spend playing the game gives you an extra continue. at the seven hour mark, you get unlimitted continues. it turned out that auto-save wasn't turned on. we were finally able to make it to level 3 w/o using a continue. we were also able to make it to the level 3 boss. we still can't beat him, but we're there.
gene spent most of the time using my internet connection, downloading different things for his new laptop.
we eventually switched to playing smash brothers melee. first, jdc and q teamed up on todd. i wanted to jump in, so q and i teamed up against todd and jdc. q and i won most of the games.
we then switched to super monkey ball 2. first, we tried shooting pool but it was just too hard. we got maybe 3 balls in before we gave up. we tried the race, but none of us were very good and couldn't beat the computer. we tried the flying and collecting points game, but we were all terrible, except for todd. this game is completely unbalanced and just not much fun. we finally just played bowling. todd won w/ 140 points, i came in second w/ 137 points, gene third w/ 130 points. it's sad that we can't even break 200 in a video game.
we spent the next two or so hours trying to unlock things in mario kart doubledash. at first, we were competing for first. but then it dawned on us that we should probably work together together to help each other get into first and second. we played until 5am est, only unlocking 1 car.
