Dave s

after dinner, todd, q and i went over to dave's. i had spent a little time chatting w/ dave the other night on im, and felt that just showing him how much i cared and stuph would be good.

q and todd played smash brothers melee while dave and i sat behind them chatting a bit. most of the conversation was purposely obscure, tip toeing around the real issue. i tried not to pry, instead, doing my best to share parts of my life that were similar. i ended up sharing that one thing in my life that very few people know.

it was so hard to pray for dave during this past month w/o any of the details. and in a way, it has become a little easier, but it really doesn't change anything.

the rest of the night, we played some smash brothers melee together, mainly doing dumb stuph like using dk and grabbing people and walking off the edge. or using kirby, sucking people in and jumping off. it was a good distraction.

afterwards, we popped in q's new game, ikagura. this game is insanely hard. we couldn't get past level 2 at all. in the game, you are a little plane that can only shoot up. different bad guys shoot at you. your ship has these shields that can change color. when white, they can absorb white bullets. when switched to black, they can absorb black bullets. when your ship is white, it does double damage to black ships and vice versa. its a very interesting concept that adds an extra layer of complexity to the game.

Slashdot: News for nerds, stuff that matters:
"a French site showing new pictures of Sony's PlayStation 2 karaoke title, SingStar. Among the details for the USB-microphone bundled game is the fact 'there'll be [multiple] versions of the game' with different songs released simultaneously, including SingStar Pop and SingStar Classics - there are detailed tracklistings on the same site. The game also 'recognizes your pitch, tone and rhythm' much like Harmonix/Konami's Karaoke Revolution, and an earlier preview notes: 'Plug in an [USB camera] EyeToy and you'll even be able to view your own pained facial expressions [in-game].' The game, developed by EyeToy creators Sony London Studio, is due for European release in March 2004, with its Stateside debut as yet unconfirmed."

another one of those "interactive" games. first, there was dance dance revolution which was huge. and then some other games that played off the rhythm theme to various degrees of success. w/ the popularity of things like american idol and other such shows, i wonder if this will pick up.
