Lord of the Rings Marathon

last night, we went over to tims to do a little lotr marathon. beforehand, q brought his gamecube over. we spent the whole night playing smash brothers melee.

none of us really played that serious. q and i spent the majority of the time as nes trying to snipe people. eventually, we played 3 v 1. where the 3 would just use basic range attacks. at first, we were playing a bit more serious, so we turned our handicaps down. later on, as we got more and more playful, we turned our handicaps back up, not that it made much of a difference.

there was one point in all the fun where i felt like i was going to pee my pants i was laughing so hard. we were all playing as dk and just groundslamming to bounce todd. there was so much bouncing that he just stayed in the air and couldn't really do anything about it.

in between, we beat some of the target games. the hardest ones were pichu's and falco's. for some reason, we had to keep trying over and over in order to beat them.

some of us woke up and dropped in the first lotr to watch. most of us drifted back to sleep because we only had a few hours. we were watching, but none of us were really paying attention to what was going on. we were, more or less, just chatting about the films and about lotr in general.


gum infection

as we wrapped up melee around 4 or 5 in the morning, i felt my gum felt kind of weird. as if it were a little soar. as i attempted to sleep, i could feel my gum puffing up. i surmised that it was most likely because my gum was infected. how it got infected, i didn't know.

i called my mom to get some phone numbers for some dentists. i called a few places, but couldn't find a time to get it done. i eventually decided to just make an appointment w/ my family doctor in order to get me some antibiotics.

around 3 o'clock, todd and i went home. he was feeling a bit under the weather, whether it was from allergies or something else, i wasn't sure. my face had swollen a lot and i could no longer close my mouth. when i got home, i chatted w/ sara a bit about what i should do. she also guessed that my gum was infected. she suggested that i should see a dentist and not just the family doctor. one of the reasons why i didn't want to go to the dentist was because i no longer had dental insurance.

i made an appointment w/ the dentist for around 6. in the meantime, i took a nap because i didn't get much sleep the night before.

i go to the dentist, explained that i had just had my wisdom teeth out a few weeks back and that i think my gum was infected. he pokes his finger in my mouth, but my face was still a bit swollen. he used his little mirror to try and take a look at it. apparently, there was a lot of puss so he couldn't see much. usually when theres puss, theres an infection. he proscribed me amoxcillin, the same stuph that i took after my oral surgeory.

i go to pathmark to pick it up. the dentist had called ahead for me, so i figured i should do a little bit of food shopping while i was there. the lays guacamole chips were on sale, so i picked up two bags. i also wanted to start working on the hamburger patties i had in the frig, so i picked up a loaf of bread, some of the cheapest i could find, and the smallest pack of american cheese i could find as well.

i go back to pick up my medication, but its not ready yet. it's been 30 minutes since the call was made. i figure, while i'm waiting, i might as well pay for my groceries. i come back and wait. and wait. and wait. i'm there for a total of an hour and a half until they finally have my medication ready.
