Review: Love Actually

went to see love actually today w/ m. i had read some reviews of it and wasn't too excited about seeing it. but m always makes an attempt to come out and do the things that i enjoy and i want to do; so i figure, why not.

the move chronicles the stories of several couples and individuals in different types of relationships. each one of these relationships is supposed to highlight some aspect of "love". each one of these stories could have been taken and made into its own story, but the writer or director decided to focus on the heterosexual sort of love.

the film wasn't bad, per se, but it wasn't good either. it's normal fair that you would expect from this sort of genre. almost (read: 90%) of the people end up together and happy.

the acting was as good as it could be considering how sappy the film was. most of the scenes were extremely short, so you didn't get much chance to see them stretch. a lot of the characters were also one dimensional, so it made it a lot easier.

the best character was colin frissle. mainly because his character was so irrevarent and single minded, much like shake from athf. if it wasn't for him, i probably wouldn't have enjoyed the film as much as i did. not that i enjoyed it all that much.

in the end, everything wrapped up into a nice little package. a lot of the characters were even related in one way or another. the majority of them even ended up in the same airport 1 month later. similar to the climax of magnolia, but just not as precisely or elegantly executed.

the film is also quite long at 2hrs+. i found myself checking my watch 2 or 3 times during the film.

but m wanted to see it. so it was fine.

2/5.

man lotion

so the other day, i was watching qe: the episode w/ the ex-marine, and kyan was commenting on the lack of skin product. i realized that i need facial lotion. i use this clinique bar to wash my face. i think it has some exfolients in it because afterwards, my face is very dry.

while m was at the mall, she stopped by the body shop and picked up a bottle of tea tree lotion for me. it was a bit on the expensive side, but if qe recommends it, it can't be bad right?

some of the main points about it are the lack of smell, it prevents acne, and is not oily. my main concern about lotion was the oiliness and the smell.

i try the lotion today, and honestly, i'm very pleased with it. it left my skin feeling soft and smooth.
