Officer Wey

Youth Group was game night, so I decided to go to Cricket Hill Brewery instead.

I had a blast.

There's something about warehouses that I love. I don't know if it's the years of playing shooters where I have grown a fondness for industrial machinery, crates, and barrels, or what. Something about the atmosphere of a warehouse that is just so raw and honest; the open rafters, bare walls, and smell of various fluids and ozone.

I met a lot of great people. It was definately a different crowd then I'm used to hanging out with. They were predominantly white with children my age. Most worked in civil service such as law enforcement or fire control. But they were all very accepting and very friendly.

I talked to one lietenant that worked for internal affairs. He told me about how local law enforcement was looking for computer people. I'm not sure what that exactly means, whether IT, computer teachers, or other vains, but it was definately intriguing.

Some of the benefits of working for law enforcement are:
  • Pension - After working for 25 years, you can retire and pretty much make 75k a year just because.
  • 5 weeks vacation - That's almost twice what I get now.
  • 15 sick days - I only get eight right now.
  • Satisfaction - I'll be helping people help other people instead of making rich people richer.
  • Vacinity - Local police will definately be closer than Weehawken.
  • License to kill - I would get a gun. I'm probably the last person who should have a gun.

So I'm going to go to the station tonight and see what sort of opportunities they offer.
