To Buy or Not to Buy

Over the past few months, I've been mulling over the decision to buy a new TV. I'v looked at every technology and every brand and pretty much every size. Plasma is too expensive and has burn in issues. DLP is nice and bright, but is not exactly the cheapest tech. I also see rainbows with DLP. Then there's LCD, not as bright and crisp as DLPs, but definately cheaper.

I thought I had decided on a make and model and was just going to wait for prices to drop a little more. It's been like two months, and the prices haven't dropped that significantly.

The issue became, should I even be spending $2,000 on a TV? I don't have that much time to watch TV. The TV that I do watch, I watch from my PVR on my computer. My mom will have spurts where she will watch a lot of movies or a lot of TV, but this isn't a normal occurence.

The technology is still changing. DLP and LCD are both fairly new. For $500 less, I could get a traditional rear-projection CRT. Of course, CRT has its own issues. Then I thought back to 36" CRTs. one of my requirements were to get a widescreen TV. The only one of decint size is 30" for $1000. For an extra $1000, I could get a 52" TV.

Decisions, decisions.

I'm still not sure what I want to do. I want to be a good steward of my money while balancing out my own wants. It's a significant chunk of change hich I don't want to drop carelessly.
