poker at dave s

On Friday, Dave had mentioned that he was going to try to get a poker game together. I gave him a ring to see if he was able to pull a few people together to play. There were a few people who could play, but that wouldn't be until 10:00 PM EST.

Before we played, JDC, Dave, and I went to Bennigan's for dinner. I had so much protein during the week, I felt like I needed something else. I stared at the menu and was surprised when I found myself ordering salad. I mean, I might as well be throwing my money away. Granted, it was chicken caesar, so it's not JUST a salad, but it's still a salad.

The poker game was pretty good. Things were very different with JDC playing with us. People were playing looser and there were a lot of big swings. Early in the game, I got a good win off of Jin. I had a pair of 7's in the pocket and decided to play. The flop was a 7-K and something else. I flopped a set so I decided to slow play it. Jin bet, and or course I called, eventually. The turn comes a second 7, so I made a 4 of a kind. I know I have the nuts, but I felt that Jin's hand was pretty weak, even without my 4 of a kind so I let him try and bully me. Finally, the river comes. I check, he bets, and I consider how much I want to raise him. I didn't want to raise him too much to scare him off, but I didn't want to raise too little. When the hand was over, I felt like i raised too low. But that's alrite.

There were some huge swings. I went from chip lead to 3rd and eventually went back to lead. The one big hand that I should've won was one I went in on with JDC. I had A-J suited, and he went all in. I quickly callled. He had A-3 unsuited. I was ahead by at least 90%. Then the flop comes, a 3. He made the lowest pair out there. I needed a J to win. River comes, and it's no help. JDC doubles up. So dumb.

In the end, JDC and I split the pot, even though I was ahead in terms of chips.
