Lazy Wednesday

i met w/ tony to talk about soul purpose stuph at barnes and noble. he was already there, but i didn't see him right away, so i got myself a cup of coffee. it actually took awhile for them to get to me because there was only one person working behind the counter and the machine was busted. by the time i got my coffee, tony showed up.

we found a seat and began talking about stuph for sp. at first, we were all over the place, talking about a lot of different issues at once. realizing that we weren't really going to get anything done by doing this, we made a list of points that we wanted to touch and cover. this helped us focus the direction of the conversations.

in the hour or so that we spent talking, we actually got a lot ton. we planned out the next several weeks, and caught each other up on different issues.

home

when i got home, my mom started yelling at me for not getting a job. more specifically, about how i wasn't really looking really hard. it was an issue that i had been struggling over which just happened to come to a head.

we got into a raised voice match, and i eventually just walked away. even looking in the paper, i couldn't really find anything that i was interested in. but i did my best and sent out resumes to those that i was qualified for.

men's small group

after spending a few months in fran's 4w, i just felt like i wasn't really growing. i was meeting and getting to know new people, but the environment wasn't conducive to getting to know people intimately. even if i didn't grow spiritually, and i just got to know people better and deeper, that would have been fine for me.

i talked to tony about his men's small group. he said that they would be doing a new study soon, so i figured i should give them a try. i went to their first meeting tonight on the new book. i realized that i knew most of the guys that were there already.

the group was very tight, and we did some good sharing. not very deep sharing, but good sharing. the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable, and i felt very welcome. we'll see what it's like next week.

umax uncle

one of my uncle in laws had started umax, a hardware and software company based in taiwan which produced scanners several years back. he has since moved on and started different companies. at one point he was working w/ small lcd displays for handheld devices.

my mom told me that he wanted to talk to me a bit, because i had recently graduated college. so i called him up last night and we talked a bit. he asked me about my background and what my plans were for the future. i told him that church was my biggest priority right now and i most likely was not looking to leave jersey.

he shared with me that his current company was working on some pattern recognition software, primarly for the identification of human cells. they should have a product on the market out by late summer. this would help doctors and hospitals identify specific cells.

the technology was very exciting, especially when applied to biometrics and facial recognition. the technology also has further reaching applications that we have yet to think about.

all in all, it was a good conversation.
