Review: Volcano High
just finished watching the french version of volcano high. i can't really do a full review considering i don't know french. therefore, i really didn't know what was going on.
overall though, the movie was interesting. the idea is that there are these kids in high school w/ super powers. the main character has been kicked out of other schools for using them (because the other schools don't have kids like this) so this is his last chance.
one of the strongest kids is sent off to some weird prison for some reason, so there is a power vacuum. this long haired kid goes around w/ his club bulling other clubs. one of which, is the kendo club, headed by this girl the lead likes.
a little ways into the film, these new teachers arrive. all of which have super powers too. one of the them is really mean and is really strong. he can throw balls of condensed air. they don't seem like much, but they pack a punch.
the main character, who has yellow hair, eventually picks up this new power that lets him levitate and control the water around him. not surprisingly, he needs to use this power against the "boss" at the end of the film.
the fighting, overall, is pretty decint. the main draw of the film is the dragonball z like action. which, although it doesn't take it to the extent the anime does, fairs pretty well.
the wire work is a little shoddy, making for some unrealistic (like it really was) jumps and flips.
i'm sure if i saw it in its original korean w/ english subtitles, it would have been much better.
ivory
remember my little story about taking a crap the other day? apparently, if you take a sliver of ivory soap, shape it into a bullet, and stick it up there, it'll react and just let it all come out.
wish i had known this earlier.
