trying to unwind
Exhausted after work, and not very hungry from a very full lunch, I decided to go to the mall. Nothing like commerce to get the blood moving.
M and I just walked around and hit up the normal stores. I looked at watches briefly, but nothing exciting. The guy asked me what I was looking for, and I said titanium. He asked me some other questions to try to narrow it down, as if a titanium watch wasn't narrow enough. They only had 4 titanium watches there, one of them, he didn't even know they had. I knew more about the watches than they did. I guess my knowledge spooked them out because they weren't exactly interested in selling to me, or at least didn't act like they were interested.
After the mall, we went to Borders for a bit. I wanted to pick up an issue of GQ or some such. While we were there, we saw Vinny, M's cousin. I sat down and chatted with him briefly before I went back to looking at magazines.
I felt really awkward staning in the "erotic" section. I didn't appreciate that the men's magazines were grouped with the likes of Playboy and others. There were actually a lot of different porno mags that I hadn't heard of before. I don't know if these were recent releases or what.
I picked up an issue of Details and went to the children's section to flip through it. M was looking for Olivia or some such. It was a children's book about a pig or something. The art work looked pretty good, but I didn't really flip through it.
I wasn't too impressed by Details. None of the articles seemed interesting enough to me to warrant my attention. Compared to Esquire, it just seemed very uninspired. I considered picking up an issue of GQ, but realized that a subscription would be cheaper than the actual magazine.
During the day, I had found some websites that offered subscriptions to magazines for dirt cheap. Esquire for $2.99 USD. GQ for $3.99 USD. A whole year's subscription is cheaper than the cover price.
After Borders, we went back to M's place. Jehf came over and we had some french toast a la mode.
