church IT dept.
After small group, Joseph Huang found me and we began talking about IT Dept. at church. He showed me where the server was, where the router was, and gave me a quick overview of some of the things that they were trying to achieve as a department.
It was supposed to be just a quick chat, but we ended up going into a lot of different things. The entire conversation was very encouraging. I didn't necessarily agree with everything, but it was good to hear some of the plans and intents that they had for not only the church, but for the pastors as well.
I've been tasked to do 2 things. 1) Find a network ready laser printer. 2) Find kids to begin the process of documentation.
While I was talking to Joseph, I realized that one of the biggest issues was the problem of documentation. Basically, there was none. You have all this equipment and all this technology at your disposal but no one knows how to properly use it or properly take care of it. As a result, a lot of the equipment is either damaged or its lifespan has been severly cut.
Despite all that, it was very good. I look forward to being a part of the IT Dept. but I just don't want to become over committed with everything else that I'm doing.
