AP small group
Small group was very good. We did the drawin exercise that we did at the sponsor's meeting. The task was to draw a mountain, a body of water (lake, ocean, stream, river, etc.), a tree, a cave and 1 animal. I drew a smoldering volcanoe, sourounded by a ring of trees with a single break in the forest where a path led up the volcanoe to a cave. Behind the smoldering smoke, half blocked, was a shining sun. Over a quarter of the sun was this huge winged medieval dragon.
Once your picture is drawn, you are to add in anything else you like and a stick figure representing you. You put the stick figure in different parts of the picture depending on where your spritual life is. I added a small village down at the beach. I was standing right outside it fighting a bear.
We went around talking about our pictures and what they all meant, not really psychoanylizing, but just kind of looking in. A lot of the kids drew a picture based on a Poland Spring bottle. Kind of sad that they didn't come up with their own idea, but that's okay.
The exercise was very good. I found that a lot of the kids see their spritual lives very highly. I don't know how honest they were, but I trust that they were and was very encouraged.
